Students who are the first in their families to attend college may encounter challenges that affect their academic performance. In this workshop, we will offer evidence-based teaching strategies that first-generation students have identified as supportive of their academic success. Without requiring much additional time, you will be able to foster your first-generation students’ engagement, belonging, confidence, and future aspirations. Developed in collaboration with the Center for Intercultural Engagement (CIE), this workshop supports curricular and co-curricular educators in striving to meet the needs of first-generation students, as emphasized in Northeastern’s academic plan.
For Future Faculty Program participants, this session fulfills the “Diversity and Inclusive Teaching” requirement.
This session is only open to Northeastern University educators. Please use your Northeastern email when registering.
